Celebrate the centennial of the groundbreaking Atelier 17.
Atelier 17 was a print workshop founded in 1927 by English artist Stanley William Hayter (1901-1988, pictured) that introduced new ideas, fresh imagery, and radical experimentation to age-old. The workshop took its name from Hayter’s address in Paris (17 Rue Campagne Première) and closed in 1988.
It became a locus for a new generation of avant-garde artists from Asia and beyond, all of whom shared Hayter’s reverence for the graphic arts and eagerness to be in the printmaking vanguard.
