Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international mutual aid fellowship founded in 1935 by stock speculator Bill Wilson (1895-1971) and surgeon Dr. Bob Smith (1879-1950). The organization’s goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment for addicts wishing to permanently abstain from drinking.
