That man was U.S. President Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994). His political operatives were caught in 1972 burglarizing and planting listening devices in the Democratic party offices at the Watergate complex. Nixon’s efforts to conceal his administration’s involvement led to his resignation in 1974.
