Life and love lead to laughs in this classic 1963 play, one of the signature works of prolific writer Neil Simon (1927-2018).
The story centers on young newlyweds: buttoned-up lawyer Paul and his free-spirited bride Corie. They’ve just moved into their first apartment — a fifth-floor walk-up that has a hole in the skylight, a leaky closet and lacks a bathtub. For the next few days, Paul and Corie must navigate a new world of cohabitation within a chaotic home.
“Barefoot in the Park” was adapted to a 1967 film starring Robert Redford (who headlined the original Broadway production) and Jane Fonda. It was also the basis of 1970 television series starring Scoey Mitchell and Tracy Reed.
