Introduced in 1939, Batman is a comic book hero created by writers/illustrators Bo Kane (1915-1998) and Milton Finger (1914-1974). He is the dark, brooding alter ego of billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne.
This adaptation centers on the battles between Batman and the disfigured crime lord Jack Napier (portrayed with glee by Jack Nicholson) who has taken on a dangerous persona called the Joker.
