American actor Rami Malek has earned critical acclaim for her performance as British rock superstar Freddie Mercury in this hit 2018 film.
Born Farrokh Bulsara, singer/songwriter Freddie Mercury (1946-1991) and his band Queen crafted some of the best and most innovative pop-rock songs in history. Mercury regularly found inspiration in many genres including opera, which informed the band’s remarkable 1975 song “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The film follows Freddie from the band’s early years through its peak as the gifted Mercury deals with stardom, his sexuality and eventually contracting HIV/AIDS.
