Wild drag artists Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet (whose real names are secret) are passionately committed to showcasing all the horror, filth and glamour of the underground drag world in their outrageously funny show.
The slang word “drag” refers to a person (usually male) who assumes the exaggerated dress and mannerisms of the other gender for artistic or entertainment purposes. For centuries, men have dressed as women during traditional customs and rituals. In medieval England, when women were banned from appearing on stage, men in dresses was common in plays. The term “drag” first appeared in the 1870’s and may have derived from the sensation of long skirts trailing on the floor.
Tonight’s broad and bawdy fun first appeared on stages in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City.
