The great Yefim Bronfman joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in performing a popular concerto by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) and the world premiere of a new piece by Spanish conductor/composer Gloria Isabel Ramos Triano.

Soviet-born Israeli-American pianist Yefim Bronfman is internationally acclaimed for his brilliant performances of classic Russian compositions — always balancing pianistic fireworks with the moody introspection common to many of the works.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

Gloria Isabel Ramos Triano made her debut in Spain with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in 1996, after which she was invited to conduct other Spanish orchestras. She has often been praised as being innovative and coherent.
