For more than half a century, singer/songwriter Chaka Khan has been a magnificent leader in that special blend of soul, jazz and rhythm & blues known simply as funk.

Chaka Khan was born Yvette Marie Stevens in 1953 to a bohemian Chicago family for whom artistic expression was part of daily life. Her stage name is a variation of the spiritual name bestowed upon her at age 13 by a Yoruba spiritual leader. Over the decades, Chaka Kahn was won an impressive ten Grammy Awards and millions of fans.

Still at the height of her astounding vocal powers, Chaka Khan is creating new projects and exploring new artistic worlds while embracing her own remarkable legacy — something she shares in tonight’s show.

This is an “all-ages” concert. Pandemic restrictions may be in place. Presented as part of the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival.
