Five-person Utah band Citizen Soldier crafts and performs alternative rock music with a unique pedigree and a special goal.
Citizen Soldier was born in 2016 when frontman Jake Segura penned the lyrics to the song “Let It Burn” from a psychiatric hospital. Now practicing as a clinical therapist, he implements intensely emotional lyrical themes on mental health into the band’s music.
The band’s name is the members’ attempt to shine a light on the everyday struggles of those who feel overlooked and unappreciated. Citizen Soldier seeks to present an accessible message that combats stigmatization and provides a group therapy dynamic.
