The Nebraska band Cursive has become known for writing smart, tightly woven rock songs through which lead singer Tim Kasher turns his unflinching gaze on specific, often challenging themes, and examines them with an incisively brutal honesty.
Cursive’s name was inspired by a passage in a book by award winning Trinidad-British writer V. S. Naipaul (1932-2018) referencing when British colonial rulers forced subjugated Indians to learn how to write English in cursive penmanship.
