Young participants will use clay and other sculptural materials to construct a personalized home for a gnome friend, based on an artwork in the museum.
A gnome is a mythical creature from European folklore. They are unusually depicted as small, human-like creatures with magical powers and special insights. Starting in the 19th century, whimsical sculptures were created to decorate gardens.
Taking on the role of architect, artist and engineer, each kid will decide what characteristics of a chosen piece would make the best home and problem solve the best way to construct it.
