This powerful 2017 film depicts an important moment in World War II (1939-1945).

Between May 26 and June 4, 1940, a massive, complicated and messy evacuation of troops near the French city of Dunkirk had commenced. The operation commenced after large numbers of Belgian, British and French troops were cut off and surrounded by German troops around the mid-point of the six-week long Battle of France.

With little dialog, “Dunkirk” portrays the evacuation from three perspectives: land, sea and air. The result is what many critics believe is one of the greatest war movies ever made.
