Each member of the local folk quartet Ferdinand the Bull reaches deep into his respective cultural roots and melds them together to tell stories of people and places from one-horse towns to metropolises.
The band’s name was inspired by the 1936 children’s novel The Story of Ferdinand written by Munro Leaf (1905-1976). The novel tells the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than participate in bullfights.
