The 1950’s come alive again (at least, an idealized version) in this rousing 1971 musical.
Set at the fictional Rydell High School, “Grease” is the story of two unlikely lovers — the working class Danny and sweet ingénue Sandy — as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love.
The score borrows heavily from the sounds of early rock & roll and features terrific songs such as “Greased Lightnin” and “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.” John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John starred in a popular 1978 film adaptation.
