The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performs the score to this 2007 fantasy film, an adaptation of the fifth Harry Potter young adult novel, as the movie screens simultaneously.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

Harry Potter is the central character in a series of novels written by British author J. K. Rowling and first released in 1997. Harry is a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. The novels follow Harry and his friends battling the forces of evil while facing the challenges of adolescence.

This installment finds Harry expelled from Hogwarts and turning to an unlikely — and risky — source to be re-instated.
