Fairy tales collected by the Brothers Grimm form the basis for this engaging and award-winning musical written by the prolific composer Stephen Sondheim (1930-2021).
German academics and cultural researchers Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) collected folklore tales and published them for broad appreciation.
“Into the Woods” involves a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, their interaction with a witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey.
The score includes wonderful songs such “No One is Alone” and “I Know Things Now”.
