Meet at the city’s historic Freedom Corner to revive a special moment in history: the first Jubilee Parade, which was held in 1870 after the United States constitution formally banned chattel slavery in America.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the effective end of institutional African-American enslavement, which happened on June 19, 1865. It is used as the basis for celebrating Black history and sacrifice and especially contributions to the national culture.

Interested participants are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. for a parade that begins at Noon.  The parade begins at Noon traveling down Center Avenue, right on 6th Street, left on Grant Street, right on 5th Avenue, down to Liberty Avenue and left on Liberty to Point State Park.

Admission is free. Presented in part by Stop the Violence Pittsburgh, a nonprofit organization established in 2016 to enrich the lives of African Americans in Pittsburgh and stop serious violence in the region.
