Children will learn about the quilters and quilts of Gee’s Bend, Alabama and create a quilt collage out of paper in their style.
The aforementioned quilts are those created by a group of African American women and their ancestors who lived in a small Alabama town. The residents of Gee’s Bend are direct descendants of the enslaved people who worked the cotton plantation established in 1816 by Joseph Gee.
