In this knitting workshop, instructor Hayley Geary teaches you the basics of knitting and will get you started on a blanket.

Knitting is the process that creates a textile or fabric from yarn. Humans have been knitting for thousands of years and historians remain unclear as to its origin. Knitting creates stitches: loops of yarn in a row, either flat or in the round. This can be done by hand or by machine. The modern English term is a linguistic descendant of the Old English word “cnyttan” which means “to knot.”

You will leave class with your knitting project, a set of wooden knitting needles, a yarn needle to finish your pieces, and the skills to read and follow simple knitting patterns in order to inspire and complete this and future knitting projects.
