Romance, friendship and a struggle for survival in the City of Lights come together in this masterful 1896 opera created by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924).

It’s Christmas Eve in Paris, and a young poet meets the love of his life. Their time together is a poignant picture of poverty and illness, shared by friends.

This opera was the inspiration for the award winning Broadway musical “Rent.” Presented by the Pittsburgh Opera, the eighth oldest opera company in the United States.
