This critically acclaimed musical offers a portrait of the legendary Billie Holliday (pictured) as both her career and her life near their end.
Born Eleanora Fagan and nicknamed “Lady Day,” vocalist Billie Holiday (1915-1959) inspired a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo while performing jazz and swing songs.
The show takes place is a seedy Philadelphia bar just four months before Billie’s death. More than a dozen musical numbers are interlaced with salty and often humorous reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.
