The classic Greek play “Lysistrata” remains both funny and relevant even 2,500 years since it was performed — and has been adapted by contemporary playwright Drue Robinson.

With the city-states Athens and Sparta about to start another war, the women of both cities are frustrated with Greece’s male-dominated society. One of them, Lysistrata, comes up with an ingenious plan: all the women will go on a sex strike until a peace agreement is reached. This begins a different kind of war as the genders battle for supremacy.

This remains one of the most popular works of Aristophanes (446BCE-386BCE), who is known among theater aficionados as “The Father of Comedy/”
