Memorial Day, happening on the last Monday in May, is the United States’ official holiday commemorating the men and women who have died while serving in America’s armed forces. The tradition began in the late 1800s by individual states and became an unofficial holiday after World War I (1914-1918) and was officially recognized by the federal government in 1971.
The cemetery will present a special memorial service after the parade.
