Pittsburgh’s legendary professional baseball team — the winner of five World Series trophies — is challenged by the Philadelphia Phillies in a series of games.

With an impressive history dating to 1882, the team is often known by the nicknames “Bucs” and “Buccos,” derived from another name for pirates, buccaneers.

This weekend commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Pirates’ 1979 World Series win: the first 20,000 fans to Friday’s game will receive a special T-shirt and the first 20,000 to Saturday’s game a vintage bobble head. In addition, Sunday’s game is designated as a “Kids Day” with additional activities.
