Local first responders are honored at this evening’s game as Pittsburgh’s legendary professional baseball team — the winner of five World Series trophies — takes to the diamond against the New York Met.
With an impressive history dating to 1882, the team is often known by the nicknames “Bucs” and “Buccos,” derived from another name for pirates, buccaneers. Today is designated Patriot Day, which recognizes the people killed and rescue personnel who responded to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
First responders are welcome through discounted tickets (which must be ordered by clicking here) and receiving a special cap.
