Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson (pictured) joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in performing works by German composers Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and Johannes Brahms (1833-1897).
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
The program also includes the local debut of a piece by contemporary German composer Sophia Jani.
