Slovak conductor Juraj Valčuha leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov in a program centered on a symphony written by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

Beethoven remains one of the most admired composers in the history of Western music; his works rank amongst the most performed of the classical music repertoire and span the transition from the classical period to the romantic era in classical music.
