The internationally acclaimed Polish-Canadian pianist Emanuel Ax joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a program centered on a popular concerto written by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791).
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
The program also features the world premiere of a new version of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini’s (1858-1924) music for his final opera, “Turandot.” This is a new arrangement created in part by the orchestra’s conductor, Manfed Honeck.
