Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and hot young Polish-Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki in a program that includes a famous work by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907),

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

Edvard Grieg composed just one piano concerto during his career, and it is one of the most popular piano works ever written. He was just 24 at the time, making it a perfect pairing with Jan Lisiecki, who made his orchestral debut at the age of nine and has been a professional recording artist since he was 15. Parts of the concerto has been heard in films ranging from “The Seventh Veil” (1945) to “Red Sparrow” (2018).
