Often using period instruments, Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva joyfully performs works of the classical repertoire from the baroque to the modern. For this program, she joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a program that includes the groundbreaking piano concerto written by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907).

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

The program also includes works by French composer Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) and Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957).
