The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is joined by one of the world’s brilliant young musicians in a program centered on the works of Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957).

German violinist Augustin Hadelich is the member of a gifted musical family (his two older brothers are also classical musicians) who became a prodigy as a child. In 1999 at the age of 15, Augustin was heavily injured in a fire that required more than a year of recuperation that has informed his every subsequent performance.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

The program feature Augustin joining the PSO in performing a violin concerto written by contemporary British composer Thomas Adès. The work is presented as a PSO debut.
