The internationally sensational Italian-German composer Augustin Hadelich (pictured) returns to Heinz Hall for a new show with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

This youthful program is centered on a symphony written by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) when he was just age 18 — and is filled with schoolboy pranks that listeners immediately fall in love with. The show also features the Pittsburgh premiere of a new work by Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen.
