The incomparable musician Yefim Bronfman (pictured) joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in an exciting event that combines the debut of a magnificent new Steinway piano along with the local debut of a new composition.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

The new piano was created by the legendary Steinway & Son, an American instrument maker founded in 1830 by German immigrant Heinrich E. Steinway (1797-1871). The company is considered one of the world’s finest piano maker.

Making its Pittsburgh debut is the deeply romantic “Open Mind” written by Swedish composer Rolf Martinsson.
