Russian American pianist Kirill Gerstein (pictured) joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in performing a concerto written by Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840-1893).
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
The program also features the local debut of a piece written by Italian composer Victor de Sabata (1892-1967).
