Rock, adolescent angst, sex and fame come together in this thoughtful and exciting adaptation of the 1990 film of the same name.

The musical is set in a Phoenix suburb during the per-internet age. The teens of this sleepy community have a secret hero: the operator of an underground radio station who calls himself as Hard Harry. What they don’t know is that the spinner of controversial rock songs is one of them: a quiet loner named Mark Hunter.

With no friends and an inattentive father, Mark’s only solace is the nightly broadcast where his words won’t fail him. But his world shatters when a local stranger calls into the radio show, announcing his plans to commit suicide. Though Mark tries to console the caller, it’s too late — and the mysterious Hard Harry quickly becomes the town’s scapegoat.

The original film was written and directed by Allan Moyle. It starred Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis.
