Simon Armitage — Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom — reads from and comments on his forthcoming verse translation of the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Epic of Gilgamesh is a collection of epic poems written more than 3,000 years ago by an unknown author. Gilgamesh is a mythical hero king who lived in what is now Iraq. The poems relate the king’s life story and his exciting adventures.

Presented by the International Poetry Forum, a reading series launched in 1964 to bring the world’s best poets to Pittsburgh.
