Experience a screening of the classic 1980 science fiction movie “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” with the score performed live by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

The first sequel to the sensational 1977 film “Star Wars,” this movie continues the struggle between the evil Emperor Palpatine and the intergalactic freedom fighters.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

In 2010, “The Empire Strikes Back” was selected for preservation in the United States’ National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant”.
