The August Wilson African American Cultural Center invites you to join them as they forge ahead with purpose, ascending to “Higher Ground” in the spirit of August Wilson (pictured).

The August Wilson Center For African American Culture engages regional and national audiences in its mission of preserving, presenting, interpreting, celebrating and shaping the art, culture and history of African Americans utilizing the rich history, legacy and culture of African Americans from Western Pennsylvania as a foundation.

The center is named in honor of Pulitzer Prize winning Pittsburgh playwright August Wilson (1945-2005), whose plays depict the comic and tragic aspects of the African American experience.

A special celebration features cocktails, dinner and a “Center Stage” performance featuring vocalist, Eric Roberson, and the String Queens.  Proceeds benefit the center.
