Innuendo, sexual identity and scandal are at the heart of this play, one of the signature accomplishments of writer Lillian Hellman (1905-1984).

The play centers on the fallout after a troublesome student accuses the two women running an all-girls school of being lovers which destroys the women’s careers, relationships and lives.

“The Children’s Hour” was first staged in 1934 and famously adapted to the screen in 1961 starring Audrey Hepburn, Shirley MacLaine and James Garner.
