Jack Lowden and Martin Freeman star in this videotaped production of the acclaimed 2024 play “The Fifth Step.”
The story centers on recovering alcoholic James, who agrees to sponsor Luka through his own twelve steps to sobriety. The pair bond over black coffee, trade stories and build a fragile friendship out of their shared experiences. But as Luka approaches step five — the moment of confession — dangerous truths emerge, threatening the trust on which both of their recoveries depend.
Presented as part of an initiative operated by the Royal National Theatre in the United Kingdom to transmit stage productions worldwide via satellite.
