The 1973 novel The House with a Clock in its Walls by author John Bellairs (1938-1991) has been adapted into this entertaining 2018 film.

Recently orphaned, Lewis Barnavelt is sent to live with his warlock uncle Jonathan in Michigan. But soon Lewis learns of Isaac Izard, an evil wizard who constructed a magical clock that counts down to doomsday. Isaac died before he could finish the clock — which is hidden somewhere in Uncle Jonathan’s house.
