The impressively talented Mitchell Family — who have traveled to Senegal, Guinea and Ghana to study traditional drum, dance and culture — are the heart and soul of the Ibeji Drum Ensemble, which celebrates the rich musical traditions of West Africa.
The ensemble’s name, Ibeji, refers to a set of spiritual twins in an ancient African religion.
Admission is free. Presented as part of the Three Rivers Arts Festival, a project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust featuring multi-disciplinary performing and visual arts attractions in Downtown Pittsburgh. The first festival was staged in 1960. For more information, call (412) 456-6666.
