This brilliantly witty play by writer Oscar Wilde (pictured) has been described by Wilde himself as a “trivial comedy for serious people.”

Set in 1890’s Britain, “Importance” is the hilarious story about two debonaire bachelors, Algernon and his friend Jack, both of whom use the same pseudonym (“Earnest”) to escape burdensome social obligations. But things get complicated when they both fall in love with women who know each man as “Earnest” — and a complex web of increasingly funny lies is woven.
