This powerful and inspiring play is a stage adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same title written by Afghan American author Khaled Hosseini.
Narrated by the protagonist, a unhappy middle age man named Amir, the play explores themes of guilt and redemption. Amir is obsessed with an “unatoned sin” he committed as a well-off child living in Kabul during the 1970’s. Now, as an adult residing in the U.S., he is offered a change to make amends — but that means a dangerous trip to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
The novel was also adapted to the screen for an award winning 2007 film.
