Participate in a conversation between Women of Visions founders and some of the Black male artists featured in “Magnificent Motown: Art Inspired By The Music.”
“Magnificent Motown” is an exhibition of works created by local artists who have interpreted the titles of various Motown songs.
Motown Records is a record label founded in 1959 by producer Barry Gordy which developed a style soul music that became known as “The Motown Sound.” Motown music is magnetic, mobilizing and — most importantly — a cause for celebration.
The exhibit is presented in partnership with Women of Vision, an artist collective formed in 1981 to provide African-American women opportunities in the art world. “Magnificent Motown” is the first time male-identifying artists have been invited to participate in a project.
