This 1928 silent film, widely regarded as a landmark of cinema, recounts the legend of Joan of Arc.
Claiming to be acting under divine guidance, Joan of Arc (1412-1431) became a military leader who gained recognition as a savior of France. She was eventually captured by England, where she was tried and executed.
Members of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh will perform “Voices of Light,” a 1994 work written by contemporary composer Richard Einhorn as inspired by the film.
