This play is a surprisingly relevant, boundary-pushing, darkly satirical look at wealth inequality in which no creature comes out unscathed.

The story centers on Scurius, the patriarch of a family of gray squirrels, has collected enough nuts to last ten winters. When a group of starving fox squirrels begs him to share his hoard of food, animosity erupts into a ferocious war.

Presented by 12 Peers Theater, a company founded in 2011 with the mission to provide challenging and engaging theater through contemporary works exploring myth and cultural identity. The company’s name is a reference to the Twelve Peers of Charlemagne, the legendary council of knights that supported Emperor Charlemagne (742CE-814CE) during his rule of Europe’s  Carolingian Empire (800CE-888CE).
