The popular video game character Mario is given new life in computer generated realm in this 2023 film.
Launched in 1981, Mario is the central character in a media franchise created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario and his twin brother Luigi are plumbers in the original game who exterminate creatures emerging from the sewers.
In this adaptation, the brothers are swept into two competing underground nations: the good Mushroom Kingdom and the evil Dark Lands.
