Choreographer and dancer Trevor Miles collaborates with visual artist and video jockey Julie Mallis to explore the escalating opioid crisis — and especially its impact on youth.
Since the late 1990’s, the United States has seen a rapid increase in the use of prescription and non-prescription opioid drugs. These narcotics are usually used as pain killers and many addicts began using them by prescription for legitimate medical reasons. Tens of thousands of people have died from overdoses
With rapid-fire computer-generated imagery, Mallis immerses the dancers in a dark forest, while Miles’ evocative choreography asks difficult questions.
Presented by the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater.
